Ah, beautiful!!! Everything works now Thank you so much yet again for all your hard work-- I can't thank you enough. ------- By the way, in case anyone ever is curious... the database and such need not be on the same server, despite the documentation in the original FESL-emulator. I had an existing standalone database server running a more recent version of MySQL (version 8), located behind a DMZ on my virtualization server, which makes it a little more fun and a tad bit more secure, since all access to it is only enabled from within the DMZ. The FESL server + web server are both on another public server (since the game client must communicate with them) and the game server is on yet another public server so that I can easily connect to it from anywhere with an Internet connection, just like a regular game server. Of course for most people, use of 3 different servers is likely to be an overkill. Nonetheless, it can be done if anyone is ever interested for purposes of simulating a likely configuration in an enterprise environment.

I'm glad it finally works for you. I used this opportunity to make the guide and the setup a bit easier, i learned much from you here too.
Security is a thing not available with xampp in this aged version :/ I had a setup like you have in mind, but sadly i'm not experienced with running apache and mysql (at least not in a secured environment). We have to use the old version of xampp beceause of php being natively in it and this very version can handle the scripts. At least that is what the official documentation says, herherher. I personally could not get the server to run on the latest xampp release and really had no time and fun in fiddling with it since i wanted to get a server running.
If you want to provide some info about your setup in theory or even create somekind of guide, feel free to do so. Personally i would like to create a professional setup, just to learn more in this direction, I'm more a layer 1-4 worker. If it works out well i could write a guide for it too, what ever you have in mind.

Fair enough. I can only imagine the trouble and time you went through to get everything to work perfectly, and then to even go as far as to document each step - with screenshots - to make everyone else's life heaps easier. So thanks again for all that
Perhaps I will make a guide soon documenting my setup. I tried at first using IIS + PHP instead of XAMPP but to no avail. I ended up uninstalling it and using XAMPP, but also after adding a firewall entry that I forgot to add previously. Ultimately everything worked, but I was too lazy to uninstall XAMPP only to test IIS+php again. Perhaps when I have some time I'll test it, and then document everything.
